  • Kati's story

    “A friend gave me Michelle’s card and it sat in a drawer for months. I’d see it, look at her website and Facebook page, and put the card back… many times. One day, I saw Michelle was holding a workshop the following Saturday.

    Although I had improved somewhat over the previous year, I was feeling stuck, like I was treading water and had gone as far as I could possibly go on my own, so decided to just show up to the workshop. I arrived, set myself up on the floor… then rushed to the bathroom to text my besties, “What I am doing here?! I can’t leave, my stuff is in the room!”

    I composed myself and returned to the room and I’m so happy I stayed. The group setting was safe and supportive. I felt for the first time in a long time that maybe I could be okay after all. Michelle wasn’t going to pressure me to take medications and sessions with her would be about me as a person, not about what happened to me - the opposite of my previous psychological and psychiatric experiences which had only exacerbated my symptoms.

    I had a lifelong injury and cycles of panic attacks, chronic insomnia, depression, and constant anxiety, and only left the house if absolutely necessary (popping Valium like TicTacs). I felt like that would be my life forever. I couldn’t change it so I’d better find a way to accept it. Working with Michelle helped me navigate what I actually had to accept, and that being my life wasn’t it.

    I truly believe you could start working with Michelle at any stage of your healing journey and find great benefit. You could be anywhere from right in the thick of it, completely broken and lost to having done tons of work already, but needing some direction and support to accept what you need to accept and change what you can change.

    It’s not a magic cure, it’s not quick and easy. You have to be willing to surrender all the ideas you have about what your life should look like and where you should be. You have to trust Michelle and let yourself be vulnerable with her so you can dismantle your current self and rebuild into the strongest version of yourself that has ever existed. Michelle will keep you safe while you do it but your sessions with her are only one part of the process.
